Welcome to the Climate Finance Newsletter!
A bi-weekly guide to insights and updates on the state of climate finance across the world
Welcome to Climate Finance Newsletter by us, Simmi Sareen and Shravan Shankar.
Action against climate change will require more advances in areas like, adding renewable energy capacity, building sustainable agricultural value chains to ensure food security, and creating climate-resilient cities to act on climate change.
A lot of the innovations we will need for climate action are not in a market-ready state, or are even not even developed. To get them, we are going to need billions of dollars of investments, deployed effectively and strategically to match the stage and innovation level of climate entrepreneurs, from the early innovation support stage, to the mid-stage growth and finally widespread scale. Something for which today’s financing and innovation structures for climate action are insufficient (e.g. green bonds are not the solution for everything.)
We need an enabling environment that grows climate innovation and private finance together, that helps to identify, design, and pilot the effective financing structures we need for climate action
The Climate Finance Initiative looks to collaboratively build this ecosystem, starting out first in India. Have a look at our website - climatefinance.in - to learn more about what we do (plus a report on the State of Climate Finance in India).
While we plan to do prepare reports to inform the climate action community, this newsletter, the Climate Finance Newsletter, is a way for us to share more regular updates, insight, and commentary on developments around climate finance from across the world.
Sign up now so you don’t miss the first issue, and we look forward to you reaching out to us to engage further.
In the meantime, tell your friends!
Best,
Simmi & Shravan
